IMDEX Asia 2023 returns with renewed vigour and a robust programme

When Asia Pacific’s leading maritime and defence exhibition, IMDEX Asia returns this May for its 13th edition, top executives and decision makers in the defence and maritime sectors can once again reconvene for strategic conversations that foster engagement to accelerate global and regional collaboration.

Show Highlights

To be held from 3-5 May, IMDEX Asia 2023 will open its doors to over 10,000 trade visitors at the Singapore Changi Exhibition Centre. The last edition in 2019 hosted 67 official delegations from 42 countries and attracted senior naval officers and government official from every Asia-Pacific country.

The 2023 edition welcomes the debut of U.S. and Canadian pavilions, coordinated by Kallman Worldwide, an established name with 60 years of experience in international trade. The US/Canadian addition augments an already impressive roster of country pavilions that spans across multiple product and service categories.

Tom Kallman, President & CEO of Kallman Worldwide (USA and Canadian pavilion) notes, “The security needs throughout Southeast Asia are so vast, the quality-proven innovative products and services offered by U.S. and Canadian firms are in high demand. IMDEX Asia has proven to be an important portal to regional opportunities, and we look forward to contributing to the success through our U.S. and Canadian Pavilions. Presented in collaboration with U.S. and Canadian government agencies and offices, the North American presence at IMDEX Asia reflects the depth and breadth of the strong relations that exists between those partner countries.”

Closer to home, the Singapore pavilion will also occupy a bigger floor space that features familiar names as well as newcomers like Allied eParts, a marine navigation and communications distributor.

The presence of major industry players such as Israel Aerospace Industries, Lockheed Martin, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Rheinmetall and ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems bears testament to the continued importance of IMDEX Asia and the Asia-Pacific region to industry players.

“Events like this are crucial enablers in reaching our market both to the customer, supplier and partner networks. It allows us to hold conversations with long-standing customers as well as new potential users and industry partners on future trends, promote our strengths and communicate our place as a leader in naval technology, focus on collaboration and international supply chains to further strengthen the naval network, and meet important stakeholders of industry to deep-dive into the current projects and innovations” said Gavin Mennecke-Jappy, Senior Vice President Sales Region East, Business Development & Sales, Atlas Elektronik.

Another IMDEX Asia mainstay, the Warship Display segment will once again host an international fleet of warships at the Changi Naval Base. A perennial crowd favourite, visitors get up close for first-hand experience of on-board operations and interact with senior naval officers from around the world.

With rapid technological developments and evolving needs, IMDEX Asia is also taking What’s Next, a programme which spotlights start-ups and innovations with potential to change the game in naval and maritime defence, to a new level. Partnering with Starburst – the world’s first and only global aerospace and defence startup accelerator and strategic advisory practice – What’s Next has launched its inaugural IMDEX Asia Innovation Challenge, which has scouted the globe for promising start-ups that will be given the opportunity to pitch and exhibit at IMDEX Asia 2023Visitors can expect to meet start-ups with valuable dual-use propositions addressing problem statements pertinent to both defence and commercial applications.

Strategic High-Level Conference fosters Thought Leadership

Beyond the show-and-tell, IMDEX Asia also thrives on the exchange of ideas and fosters thoughtful conversations on themes affecting the sector. This will continue to be fulfilled by the exclusive International Maritime Security Conference (or IMSC for short), which sits at the heart of every IMDEX Asia. IMSC propels pivotal conversations that promote mutual understanding and collaboration in Asia Pacific.

IMDEX Asia remains a must-attend event for naval and maritime stakeholders to network and strengthen ties, share and exchange knowledge, as well as keep abreast of the latest technological developments.  Organised by Experia, IMDEX Asia is supported by the Defence Science and Technology Agency, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Republic of Singapore Navy, S Rajaratnam School of International Studies and the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau.
