Indonesia Hosts Successful Bali International Airshow 2024

Indonesia has successfully organized its first international airshow in 28 years, the Bali International Airshow 2024, held from September 18 to 21. The event attracted participation from 100 companies and drew over 5,300 trade attendees from 51 countries and regions, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s aerospace and defence sectors.

The four-day event was attended by high-ranking officials, including Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. Other notable ministers present included Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy; Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister for Transportation; and Suharso Monoarfa, Minister for National Development Planning, demonstrating strong governmental support.

The airshow also highlighted Indonesia’s role in global diplomacy, positioning the country as a key player in future aerospace and defence collaborations while serving as a bridge between global powers in Southeast Asia.

Reflecting on the airshow’s success, Minister Luhut stated, “The Bali International Airshow 2024 has delivered its aim to be Southeast Asia’s most eminent international exposition for aerospace, aero technology, and defence. It has brought Indonesia into the forefront of growth in the aviation and aerospace industries, leveraging innovation and stakeholder expertise through forums, dialogues and interactions with global exhibitors.”

Prominent global brands at the airshow included Airbus, Bell Helicopters, Boeing, BrahMos, Dassault Aviation, Embraer, Garuda Group, Leonardo (represented by Helitech Asia), Lion Air, MBDA, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, Textron Aviation, and Thales. Approximately 75% of these leading companies indicated their intention to return for the next edition of the airshow, scheduled for September 24 to 27, 2025.
